GIO MONTEZ EXHIBITION CURATED BY PROF. CLAUDIO STRINATI AT THE PALAIS DAR TAZI OF THE ESPRIT DE FEZ FOUNDATION”, 2013.
The idea of this system comes from the feelings, perceptions and experiences lived during several stays in Fez. It was inspired by the new development zone, mainly with regard to the first recently opened in the city. For this production Capogrossi worked with local materials, using the technique of “sculptural dripping”.
The art exposition of Giorgio Capogrossi can be read through two different points of view. There is a “light” component and a really stylish reconstruction of Nature according to a visionary and ingenious method, such as palm trees appear, at the same time, believable and unbelievable, evocative and mysterious in their apparent evidence also contradicted by the apparent extraneousness from the material they are made. But there is a component, also very important, meditative and even philosophical because the artist implicitly refers to the ancient principle, well known in classical antiquity and that clearly makes his vivid imagination, of Art that is first imitation of Nature.
This is what Capogrossi, with his unique and highly effective exposition, wants esactly offer the intrigued and entertained viewer who is careful to discover the method of manufacture, and finally comforted by the global, welcoming and entertaining image that evolves in front of him. The Art of Capogrossi seems to be based on the long journey that comes from the past and reaches our time. In fact the artist in his practical work has faith in the ability of Art to maintain its particular feature of being imitation of nature and freedom of expression, reaching a result that it could not be imagined, more persuasive and inspiring, for those who are immersed in his whole Art.

Sculptural installation “Oasis” by Gio Montez installed at the Bibliothèque National de Rabat. Composed of seven 3M tall palm trees each made of concrete, kahrmoud ceramic, iron and industrial materials with the “sculptural dripping” technique.
