ROGO

“Rogo” is a sealed composition of a digital video “smoke” combined with the pictorial substrate “south-external wall”, the wreck of a burned pictorial work from the “Rivoluzione” cycle on the occasion of the performance day in Frankfurt am Main in 2018 during the action performed together with KaeyArt, subsequently exhibited in numerous galleries and museums during the international tour of NONÈTERNIT.

The destructive action of the work of art is particularly highlighted here as permanent formative: while the pictorial substrate is now only the burnt wreck of itself, the video represents the same painting as it catches fire and burns, without ever exhausting the flame, which is precisely a digital and “dematerialized” representation of the very soul of that work of art.

The decay of the body leaves room for contemplation and the overcoming of the body itself of the work of art that always takes on new forms compatible with the semantic universe from which it is observed.
